Dr. Mahtani Awarded With The Forbes ‘Best Of Africa’


Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was recently awarded with the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards ceremony. The award ceremony was held during the 2021 Forbes-FIN (Foreign Investment Limited) philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference, held virtually this year and broadcasted via the YouTube medium. The event was graced by significant businessmen and visionaries including members of international business communities, spiritual leaders, politicians, opinion leaders, international investors as well as media partners. Dr. Rajan Mahtani was invited into this event as a honorary speaker and discussed about the importance of political leadership in healthcare. 

For his significant business and philanthropic contributions as well as redefining the banking sector of Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. Dr. Rajan Mahtani received this award gracefully, thanking god as well as his teams for their patience and motivation. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award is among the most respected and regarded business awards in Zambia. The award is highly anticipated as the selection process is extremely rigorous, comprising of months of transparent verification process and background checks as well as interviews & discussions with the potential recipients regarding philanthropy and leadership as a means for achieving empowerment of the African people. Dr. Rajan Mahtani was extremely happy with this award as it will provide significant recognition for the businessman at an international level. 

Dr. Rajan Mahtani was conferred with this award for his significant contributions across different sectors and fields. His business contributions included development of successful companies and socio-economic contributions. Similarly, philanthropic contributions included Prison Fellowship Zambia and Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia, among others.

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani finally received joy of relief and his patience was rewarded with the judge from the Court of Appeal effectively reversed the judgement of Lusaka High Court. This historic announcement was given on 31 st January 2019 during the morning hours of the court session. This judgement was for Portland Cement Zambia, a noted cement-manufacturing factory in Zambia which has been begging for justice from the government of Zambia for the past ten years. After more than ten years of wait, Dr. Rajan Mahtani finally received justice when the opposition, Ventriglias, were knocked down by the Court of Appeal. This long fight has been for Zambezi Portland Cement, a noted cement manufacturing factory which has been contested by both parties. The initial compliant regarding the illegal takeover of the factory was registered by Dr. Rajan Mahtani at the Lusaka High Court . After several court proceedings, the judge overseeing the case announced final judgement on May 2018.
