Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani Wins Big At The Court of Appeal After Submitting Evidences And Testimonials

31st January 2019 was a significant date for Dr. Rajan Mahtani as on this date, one of the longest running cases of his business career was finally over. This case was for Portland Cement Zambia, a noted cement manufacturing factory for which Dr. Rajan Mahtani fought for more than a decade. The case was initially registered at the Lusaka High Court after Dr. Rajan Mahtani claimed that the factory was illegally taken over. After that, several case proceedings took place and numerous evidences and testimonials were shared by Dr. Rajan Mahtani. However, it took more than ten years for the Lusaka High Court to announce the final judgement. This was due to several reasons such as unethical activities and frequent transfer of the judges. Despite these long durations, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was not given true justice as the judge finally decided that Ventriglias were only shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement. As a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani was left with no choice but to approach the Court of Appeal.

According to the decision from Justice Mwinde from Court of Appeal, Dr. Rajan Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments is the majority shareholder of the Zambezi Portland Cement with 58 percent shares. On the other hand, Ventriglias owned Ital Terrazzo Limited holds just 42 percent shares and is the minority shareholder of the Zambezi Portland Cement. Based on this decision which also aligns with the original shareholders agreement from 2007, it is clear that Dr. Rajan Mahtani is the legal owner of the Portland Cement Zambia. This decision from the Court of Appeal judge is final and permanent and needs to be followed.
