Forbes Philanthropy Award Is Given To Dr. Rajan Mahtani


Forbes recently announced the winner of the Forbes ‘Best of Africa awards. It is one of the most anticipated and regarded philanthropy awards in Zambia. Dr. Mahtani was one of the recipients of the awards. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist in Zambia. The Forbes awards were presented during the Forbes-FIN philanthropy awards

Dr. Mahtani was also invited to these awards. He was invited as an honorary speaker to the conference. The conference was held virtually to comply with the Covid-19 norms. Participants included international business committee members, media partners, international investors, political leaders, and businessmen. Dr. Mahtani highlighted the significance of leadership in healthcare, especially during these difficult times. Dr. Mahtani was recognized for his philanthropic and charitable contributions. He was conferred with Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year award. Forbes recognized the contributions of Dr. Mahtani towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia. This Forbes philanthropy award finally recognizes the contribution and dedication from Dr. Rajan Mahtani for the past four decades. Also, the awards have high international and global value as they are created by Forbes. Also, the process of selecting the recipients is extremely rigorous yet transparent. 

Dr. Mahtani is known for his business contributions such as Mahtani Group and Finsbury Investments. His companies are known for providing employment and livelihood opportunities and improving overall sector standards. He is also recognized for his philanthropic contributions. He founded the Prison Fellowship Zambia for the welfare of Zambian citizens. He also founded the Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia. This award carries a scholarship of significant amount. Dr. Mahtani continues to work for the betterment and development of Zambia and its people

Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani finally received joy of relief and his patience was rewarded with the judge from the Court of Appeal effectively reversed the judgement of Lusaka High Court. This historic announcement was given on 31 st January 2019 during the morning hours of the court session. This judgement was for Portland Cement Zambia, a noted cement-manufacturing factory in Zambia which has been begging for justice from the government of Zambia for the past ten years. After more than ten years of wait, Dr. Rajan Mahtani finally received justice when the opposition, Ventriglias, were knocked down by the Court of Appeal. This long fight has been for Zambezi Portland Cement, a noted cement manufacturing factory which has been contested by both parties. The initial compliant regarding the illegal takeover of the factory was registered by Dr. Rajan Mahtani at the Lusaka High Court . After several court proceedings, the judge overseeing the case announced final judgement on May 2018.
