Legal Ownership Of Portland Cement Zambia Given To Dr. Rajan Mahtani, Confirmation From Court Of Appeal

The final destination for the Portland Cement Zambia case launched by Dr. Rajan Mahtani was Court of Appeal, one of the highest legal structures within Zambia. The case of Portland Cement Zambia is historic as it has seen all- the corruptions, unethical judgements and at last, transparent and ethical decision. The case was first approached at the Lusaka High Court where it went for more than ten years. Despite sharing numerous evidences and testimonials, the final decision from the judge at the Lusaka High Court was dubious. According to this decision, Ventriglias were considered as only shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement. It was clear that the decision making was influenced by external forces. As such, Dr. Rajan Mahtani took the right decision to launch the case again at the Court of Appeal.

The Court of Appeal announced its decision on 31st January 2019, during the morning hours. The decision was given by justice Mwinde. According to this decision, Dr. Rajan Mahtani who owns The Finsbury Investments holds 58 percent shares at the Zambezi Portland Cement factory and is the majority shareholder of the cement factory. On the other hand, the Ventriglias hold only 42 percent shares at the cement factory and are the minority shareholders of the Zambezi Portland Cement factory. Based on this decision, Dr. Rajan Mahtani becomes the majority shareholder of the Zambezi Portland Cement and its legal owner.

While announcing this decision, the judge from the Court of Appeal also condemned the decision of Lusaka High Court by saying that the judge below him was wrong in declaring Ventriglias as only shareholders without any proof or evidence.
